David Bridges is an associate in Meagher & Geer’s Catastrophic Loss Practice Group, focusing on complex civil litigation, including fires, explosions, structural failures, fire protection system failures, product failures and other catastrophic losses and construction-related incidents across the United States. His assignments include forensic investigations of catastrophic losses, including fires/explosions/fire protection system failures involving industrial, commercial and residential facilities. David investigates these incidents and provides defense and recovery representation.
David received his JD degree from North Carolina Central University School of Law. In his undergraduate studies he focused on fire science, with an emphasis on fire protection engineering. David also obtained a graduate degree in criminal justice from the University of Cincinnati.
David has extensive experience operating as a fire/arson agent/K-9 handler throughout the southeastern United States. David is an International Association of Arson Investigators’ Certified Fire Investigator (IAAI-CFI) who has investigated more than 1,000 fires and explosions while working for the North Carolina Department of Justice (NCDOJ) and North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (NCSBI). He has been an instructor for more than 36 live training fires.
David’s roots run deep in the IAAI’s work, beginning first at the Chapter level and continuing into several IAAI committee assignments. He is 2017 candidate to the IAAI’s Board of Directors. David also serves as an Adjunct Instructor for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) and National Fire Academy (NFA). The courses focus on advanced origin and cause investigation and litigation, interview and interrogation, and expert witness-courtroom testimony techniques.
